Dear Friends,
In the hope of giving you all a renewed faith in miracles I would like to share my story… I am 40 years old, TTC for 6 years. 5 years ago I was diagnosed with POF and told by specialists that the chances of us conceiving a child were slim to none. We were given the egg donor program spiel. We were devastated but decided pretty easily that IVF was not for us. I just didn’t think I would be able to handle it emotionally, not to mention the prohibitive costs involved. I embarked on a long, emotional journey of ‘alternative’ care always hoping that our baby would find its way to us. Even though I didn’t actively participate in workshops and ‘phone circles, I found great comfort in Julia’s books and the postings on this website. They made me feel less alone in my longing. I prayed, I wished, I hoped. It was hard to talk to my husband sometimes, as a man of not many words, I don’t think he knew what to say or do. I had some very loving and supportive friends but still felt that no one really understood the depths of my pain. Well, here I am 32 weeks pregnant! We conceived totally naturally (and rather unexpectedly) and have had a very healthy pregnancy with no complications at all. If it happened for us it can happen for you too!
Here are some things I did besides eating healthily and exercising regularly that I really believe were helpful and led to our baby coming:
• Acupuncture – I had a wonderful, nurturing acupuncturist who really helped me come to terms with what I was experiencing emotionally.
• Got a fertility monitor.
• Had a test to see if I had any endometrial polyps that could possibly be interfering with implantation. I did. I had one cervical and two endometrial polyps removed surgically.
• Had a hysterosalpingogram – the fluid came right through on one side but I experienced an acute pain on the other side and it was a few moments before it burst through. I have heard that the test itself can clear minor blockages.
• Saw a naturopath regularly who helped me ‘balance’ my hormones. She also figured out that I was very low in Vit D and I conceived just a few months after I managed to get that up into ‘normal range’.
• We finally got around to remodeling our home. Now this may sound pretty strange but from a feng shui perspective it makes total sense. We had been living in a teeny cabin for many years. We got rid of all the moldy, cluttered corners, opened up walls and filled in a missing corner of our home. It just happened to be the ‘family’ area of the home that was missing. We redirected the ‘chi’ and made space.
I really hope this message helps you and wish with all my heart that your baby finds its way to you.
Much love,
Emma
