progesterone cream(13 posts) (6 voices)
Has anyone been using this? Has it been helpful? I recently developed very sore breasts - they stay this way the entire month - even during my period. The only thing I could think of that brought it on is that I stopped going to acupuncture (after 6 months of feeling that I wasn't experiencing any obvious improvements) - but I didn't have the problem before I started acupuncture.?? I will be seeing a breast specialist to make sure that it's nothing serious, but meanwhile I read that progesterone cream may help with sore breasts and other hormone balance issues. Although I read on the Fertile Heart message boards that progesterone CAUSED sore breasts for a women. I'd love to receive any feedback or insight regarding my situation. By the way, I have PCOS, have not been taking any medications and trying to conceive for about 2 years. Thanks.
My acupuncurist used to prescribe pro. cream for my luteal phase b/c i don't produce a great amount on my own. but just recently she read a study that discourages the use of it b/c it can stay in the tissues even after your period comes, and can mess up your follicular phase. this effect can be even more pronounced in women that aren't lean and have extra fat tissue where the hormone can be stored.
she is now recommending sublingual or suppository forms of additional pro.--that will clear out of your system more rapidly during the phases when you don't want it in your system.
Hi! I JUST started using progesterone cream this month (I am 38). I am on my 10th day of using it and so far I LOVE IT! I had been having awful PMS symptoms such as: very, very sore breasts, very bloated, very anxious, very crabby...I also have been diagnosed with fibroids and endometriosis and while doing research on those conditions I saw progesterone cream mentioned a lot, so I decided to try it. Thus far I have NO symptoms of PMS and I feel GREAT. I did extensive research and found that Awakening Woman was the best brand to buy. I am supposed to get my period within the next week, I will let you know how it goes...
thanks for letting me know about your positive experience and about Awakening Woman!
By the way, Jackie, are you aware of when to use the cream? I read that it should be after ovulation because it can dry up cervical fluid which can hinder conception. But yet I read that it can enhance fertility - I don't know how if your using it after ovulation. Does anyone out there know about the best time to use the cream? Thanks!
Hi Leba!Yes,I waited until after ovulation to begin using the cream, which for me was about day 12 in my cycle.I haven't experienced any dryness as of this time. There are hormone test kits that they are also selling at the sight where I purchased the cream-I was in so much discomfort that I just went right to the cream- but you can always be more conservative and check your levels before you buy to make sure that you need the progesterone. I found the website (www.altmednetwork.net) very helpful.I stopped the cream today and will now wait for my period.I'll keep you posted...
Definitely do not use Natural Progesterone Cream (NPC) until ovulation has taken place. It should be started 3-4 days following ovulation. If used too soon it can not only reduce cervical fluid but can also stop ovulation from even occuring. This is because the body will believe it has already ovulated. Progesterone is naturally released from the outer shell of an ovulated egg/follicle (called the corpus luteum) and there is only estrogen and LH (luteinizing hormone) circulating through the system up until that point. Once the progesterone is detected in the system, the body will naturally begin to decline it's estrogen production and the LH may not "surge" as a result (which is the body's signal to release an egg!).
NPC is so helpful but has to be used carefully. Ignore product inserts since it is mostly marketed for those experiencing hot flashes from menopause and not for those trying to conceive. Start using 3-4 days following ovulation then test with home preg. test on cd27 or 28. Keep using if pregnant! Discontinue if neg. and period should start in couple days.
Hi Leba- well, after one month of the progesterone cream I got my period and it was fine, very uneventful- which is good for a change!I got it two days after my last dose of the cream.HUGE difference--and very positive for me. Just wanted you to know, Jackie
great! I have not noticed anything as a result of using it yet...... thanks for letting me know.
I started use for the first time(no prescription; my owni nitiative) NPC at 4 DPO( 17 CD). I ovulated at 13 CD and my cycles are usually 28-29 days.
Now I am now on 26 CD and I had light spotting(when I wipe) and low temps from 2 days( 25,26 CD). Also I have slight cramping . Starting with ovulation I had sore and tender breasts.
I tested and I have negative pregnancy test. :-(
Before using NPC I 've never experienced spotting, cramps. Maybe is the NPC?
I really don't know what to do. I should stop NPC and when? I'm thinking to use it till CD 28. What do you think?
Thank you .
for what it's worth, my gynae prescribes vaginal progesterone capsules for me, which I take from about 3 DPO for 10 days, then stop. If I discovered I was pregnant I would then resume ASAP and continue throughout the first trimester.
Thank you CarolineH,
In the meantime AF has arrived without stopping the progesterone cream.
